Property Management Blog

A Manager received a request for more information on a property.  The potential tenants profile indicates three adults and $500 income, no credit.  When they call and the potential applicant they tell the manager that they need a place immediately because she will be getting her baby back tomorrow, her Grandparents don’t want her living with them anymore and her Mom is in jail so she can’t live with her Mom.

The manager asks her how many people will be living in the property and she asks how many rooms there are...  When the answer is two, she says there will "probably" be three people.  I ask how many adults. how many minors and she tells me two minors and one adult…well almost one adult.  So I ask her “Well, aren’t you an adult?”  She tells me that she is almost an adult, she is 17 and will be 18 soon.  When they explain that as a minor she can’t sign a legal contract unless she is legally emancipated, for which we would need proof, she hangs up on the manager.  They didn’t even get to the part about explaining that you actually need INCOME to rent an apartment!
